Butcher and Provision Workers Pension Fund of Southern California

***Important message regarding your benefits***

The Butcher and Provision Workers Pension Fund of Southern California went into mass withdrawal in 2009, and at that time, the Pension Fund was projected to become insolvent by June 30, 2018. While the Board of Trustees has made every effort to extend the insolvency date, that date is now less than a year away. What this means for you as a participant is that around July 2023, the Pension Fund will no longer have sufficient assets to make benefit payments and the Pension Fund will require financial assistance from the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PGBC) to continue paying benefits. Unfortunately, the PBGC only guarantees pension benefits up to a certain amount.
